In this advanced learner’s course, you will learn about Göttingen Minipigs' biology and behaviour. We will go into detail with animal welfare aspects tailored to fit the specific needs of Göttingen Minipigs, incl. valuable acclimatisation, socialization, and thorough behavioral management programs addressing various enrichment elements etc. We will also discuss the importance of working with a Culture of Care, and suggestions on how to promote it. We will take a look at clinical issues that you might encounter in Göttingen Minipigs, as well as their suggested treatment protocols. You will learn about how to maintain healthy minipigs, incl. how to set up effective biosecurity measures and perform adequate health monitoring. To complete the course, a workshop will put the acquired learnings into perspective.
Lecturers: Maja Ramløse, DVM; Susi Søgaard, DVM; Carina Anker, Animal Welfare Technician | Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs.
About the lecturers:
Maja Ramløse is specialised in biomedicine and is an experienced veterinarian, incl. more than 6 years of working with pigs for biomedical purposes. She is the main responsible for the health and welfare of all animals at Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs, incl. the Culture of Care program.
Susi is specialised in biomedicine and has worked with pigs for 17 years and minipigs in biomedical research for the past 9 years. She has a background as a GLP Study Director and Veterinarian and has extensive experience with Göttingen Minipigs in exploratory and regulatory studies.
Carina has worked with taking care of Göttingen Minipigs for more than 17 years. Since 2020, she has been responsible for the constant focus on further improving the life and welfare of all animals at Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs.

How to get to Dalmose: Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs is located in the beautiful countryside, near Slagelse city with excellent international train connections. You can also fly to Copenhagen Airport and continue by train to Slagelse. From Slagelse city, it is only a 15-20 minute ride in a taxi to arrive at our facility (estimated taxi costs: DKK 300 / € 40)
