Non-healing wounds are a big burden on the healthcare system all over the world. In the EU it is estimated that 1.5 mio suffers from a wound at any time. In the USA this number is 6.5 mio. As a result, the pharmaceutical and biotech industries are speeding up the development of wound care and wound healing products, and these products must be tested in an animal model, prior to human treatment. Göttingen Minipigs can be a useful model because their cutaneous architecture is most similar to that of human skin.
In this Web Academy, we will explore the regulatory aspects of wound healing studies, learn what must be considered prior to running a study, and get an insight into how a wound healing study is performed at a professional CRO (Contract Research Organization).
You will get all your questions answered at the final Q&A session.
